An asteroid almost hit earth

May be this issue too late to post, hmm... An asteroid passed very closely and could have hit the Earth if there was a slight change in the orbit path. Imagine, the shortest distance to the Earth as it passed just 66,000 miles. Compare it with Earth-Moon distance that 384,000 kilometers on average.

More surprisingly is the arrival of an asteroid previously undetected. Astroid named 2009 DD45 was detected only a few days ago.

The lucky observers in Asia, Australia, and Pacific Islanders can see it as it passes in natar Earth and Moon on Monday (2 / 3) at 20:44. That space rock was moving at a speed only 20 kilometers per hour.

"We can see objects that pass this close or even closer only once every few months," said Timothy Spahr, director of the Minor Planet Center for International Astronomy Association (IAU) in Massachusetts, USA.

Asteroid 2009 DD45 was reported Its arrival on February 28. Siding Spring Observatory in Australia just record it as a small point. At that time, the asteroid is at a distance of 2.4 million kilometers and raced in very high speeds.

Compared to the other space objects, including a small asteroid with a diameter between 20-50 meters. Asteroids are solid rock objects that orbit in the region called Asteroid Belt which located between Mars and Jupiter.

"The objects that small is very difficult to see with the naked eye even at a distance that very close to Earth," says Spahr. However, amateur and professional observers can observe it with the telescope toward the right path.

Thanks to the help of amateur astronomers in various parts of the world, the shape of its orbit path can be predicted. That asteroid orbiting in the inner of solar system and expected to spend 1.56 years to circling the Sun once.

This shows that the chances of an asteroid may pass back near Earth is quite big because the orbit time that is not too much different. Even so, astronomers have not concluded that the object is threatening Earth or not.

"So far there are no extraordinary events," said Spahr. But many say there is an UFO near the asteroid when it passes, and here is the photo :
